Some investment in appearance and comfort is worth while to create a relaxing atmosphere and feeling of operator’s interest. It is also helpful to have quality equipment seen and used, but an attractive waiting section is desired for a visit to the hairdresser is a personal occasion for customer and should be made a pleasant as possible.

The suburban location selected for the JANLEE STYLES salon is well established and has convenience store shopping along with a small arcade several specialty shops and a public parking area. A two chair men’s barber shop and a small ladies hairdressing salon are already in the shopping area, but the local residential and apartment housing development is increasing the customer potential. It is believed that the present hairdressing shops have a surplus of customers and there is community growth that will justify a new salon.

Structure and management

The business will be operated as a partnership between Jan Anderson and Leigh Wilson. Application has been made for the name JANLEE STYLES with the registered address that of the accountant acting on behalf of the partners. Business banking will be with the Arton Branch of the security bank where the partners presently have personal accounts.

The partners have worked together at the Elegance Salon for two years, complement each other’s professional abilities and have planned for the opening of their own salon for several months. Both are graduates of the College of Hairdressing and hold Certificates of Course Completion from product suppliers who have provided training and special instruction in certain techniques and styling. They have a regular clientele at the Elegancy Salon, but it is felt that there will only be a limited following to the new location as it may be too far for most customers to travel. This is not disappointing for it will minimize any argument over direct competition with the former employer at Elegance Salon.
